The attorneys for disgraced South Carolina legal scion Alex Murdaugh claimed in new court documents that the results of a lie-detector test point to a different suspect in the killings of his wife and son, claiming state prosecutors are intentionally suppressing evidence in the double murder case.  A motion to compel filed on Friday by Columbia lawyers Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin alleges state investigators turned a "blind eye" to evidence linking Curtis "Fast Eddie" Smith to the homicides of Maggie Murdaugh and 22-year-old son, Paul Murdaugh, who were both found shot to death by different firearms near dog kennels on the family’s sprawling Colleton County estate on June 7, 2021.  Smith, a former legal client and distant cousin of Murdaugh, was hooked up to a polygraph machine and questioned by a South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agent in May. He answered "no" when asked if he shot Maggie, shot Paul and whether he was present during the killings, but the responses to those three questions showed "indicative of attempted deception," the motion says.  "I know I was nowhere near the place where Maggie and Paul got killed at," Smith told the agent, according to The Post and Courier, maintaining that he had three friends over to his home that night.

A western Mississippi town is mourning the loss of a police officer after she was shot and killed in the line of duty on Tuesday. Greenville police Detective Myiesha Stewart, 30, was killed Tuesday afternoon while responding to a shooting near the intersection of U.S. Highway 82 and Mississippi Highway 1, according to WLOX in Biloxi.

A North Carolina district attorney is planning on charging the 15-year-old male suspect in Thursday's shooting in Raleigh, which left five people dead, as an adult. Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman told Fox News Digital that she plans to charge the 15-year-old male suspect as an adult, "assuming he recovers." The 15-year-old male, who hasn't been named by officials, is accused of opening fire in Raleigh near the Neuse River Greenway area shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday.

The suspect in the Connecticut ambush that resulted in the deaths of two Bristol Police officers was friends on Facebook with one of the victims.  Nicholas Brutcher's list of friends on the social media platform includes fallen officer Alex Hamzy, who appeared to go by Alex Yzmah on Facebook.  Hamzy, 34, was killed in the line of duty Wednesday night.  Bristol Police Chief Brian Gould said in a news conference that Hamzy, who was raised in the city, graduated from Bristol Eastern High School in 2006. People who knew Nicholas Brutcher, the suspect in the killing of two Connecticut police officers, described him as "rowdy" and "always drinking."  In an interview with the New York Post, a neighbor of his brother, Nathaniel Brutcher, said that "Nick was the big rowdy one." The woman added that Nicholas, who the Post said was a divorced father, was a "big teddy bear."  Another neighbor told the outlet that Nicholas would visit his brother and that he was "always drinking."  "I don’t know much about [Nicholas], except he drinks a lot," he said. "The dude’s always drinking. He’d be around, checking on his brother." The same neighbor described Nathaniel Brutcher as a "man-child" who he claimed was into drugs.

The home of former Atlanta Falcons football player Julio Jones was burglarized Tuesday while he was in Florida playing in his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In a news release, Atlanta police said officers responded to reports of a burglary at a residence in Buckhead. Upon arriving at the home, the officers were told the property belonged to Jones.

Missing toddler Quinton Simon is believed to be dead and his mother is the prime suspect, Georgia authorities said Wednesday night.  "We are saddened to report that CCPD and the FBI have notified Quinton Simon’s family that we believe he is deceased," the Chatham County Police Department tweeted around 10:30 p.m. "We have named his mother, Leilani Simon, as the prime suspect in his disappearance and death.

Suspected New York City subway mass shooter Frank Robert James missed his federal court date Wednesday, records show, prompting the judge to order U.S. Marshals to "use all necessary force" to drag him from a federal holding cell to the hearing. James, 63, was being held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn – but missed the court date anyway.

An arrest has been made following the release of security footage showing a man forcefully walking a teenage girl before she was sexually assaulted in a Los Angeles bathroom, police said Wednesday.  The Los Angeles Police Department told Fox News an arrest has been made but could not confirm if the suspect seen on camera was the person in police custody. The incident occurred Tuesday at a park in the El Sereno neighborhood.  A suspect is seen with a teen girl in Los Angeles moments before she was sexually assaulted.

A woman accused of being a member of the so-called "green goblin gang" that attacked two teenagers on a Manhattan subway train turned herself on Monday and was released Tuesday without bail.  The NYPD said Mariam Issouf, 26, was arrested Monday in connection with the Oct. 2 assault on the northbound N platform at the 42 Street-Times Square subway station.  New York City police released images of four woman who were allegedly part of a group of suspects wearing neon-green bodysuits while attacking two women on a subway train.  (Fox New York ) Two 19-year-old female victims told NYPD officers they were engaged in a verbal dispute with a group of unidentified individuals.

A man accused of driving into a crowd outside a Colorado bar after a fight, killing one person and seriously injuring four others, was on parole from prison at the time, according to court documents released Monday and authorities. Ruben Marquez, 29, was released from prison in May after serving nearly three years for "aggravated motor vehicle theft, attempted escape, and a weapons and drug charge," said a state Department of Corrections spokesperson, Annie Skinner. He was required to serve a mandatory two-year parole sentence, she said.

The suspect accused of fatally stabbing two people on the Las Vegas strip and injuring six others appears to have been caught on camera by a news outlet in Los Angeles two days before the attack.  "He was asking for help," ​Telemundo 52 cameraman Jorge López said, according to a news article from the outlet. "He kept telling me: 'I just want a chance, I just want to start from scratch.'" López was on assignment in downtown Los Angeles outside city hall last Tuesday when he was approached by a man who identified himself as Yoni Barrios.

The suspect accused of killing his roommate at Purdue University claimed he had been "blackmailed" on Friday during his first court appearance.  In a video, speaking to reporters, 22-year-old Ji Min "Jimmy" Sha said he was "very sorry" when asked if he had a message for the family of the victim, 20-year-old Varun Manish Chheda.  Sha is facing a preliminary charge of murder.  According to court documents, he was granted a 72-hour continuance in his case inside the Tippecanoe County Jail’s magistrate court.  Fox 59 said that while court documents filed against Sha Friday give more insight into the death of Chheda, they provide little insight into his motive. Ji Min Sha, 22, was identified as the suspect by Purdue Police Chief Lesley Wiete during a press conference.

A police K9 and a possible murder suspect are dead after a chase in Georgia ended with a shootout in the woods on Friday. The deadly confrontation began just before noon along River Road near Interstate 285 when Clayton County police spotted a car associated with a murder investigation, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. Georgia State Patrol and the Clayton County Sheriff's Office were called to assist with an attempted stop.

California authorities have arrested two brothers in connection with the kidnappings and murders of four family members in Merced. The Merced County Sheriff's Office on Friday announced the arrest of Alberto Salgado, the brother of suspect Jesus Manuel Salgado, who was taken into police custody earlier this week in critical condition after trying to take his own life. Jesus Manuel Salgado is suspected of kidnapping and murdering 8-month-old Aroohi Dheri; her mother, Jasleen Kaur; her father, Jasdeep Singh; and her uncle, Amandeep Singh.

The man accused of killing two people and wounding six others in an "unprovoked" attack on the Las Vegas Strip went into a fit of rage after a group of showgirls refused to take a picture with him, according to officials and a local report.  Yoni Barrios, 32, approached the group of women on the famous Las Vegas Strip on Thursday and said he was a chef, local news station KTNV reported. Holding what police described as a "large knife with a long blade," he asked the women if they would pose for a photograph with him – then began attacking when they rebuffed him, the outlet reported.  Barrios stabbed eight people – a mix of tourists and residents – just after 11:40 a.m.

A New York City police officer was sent to the hospital after being stabbed by a man who allegedly became "combative" and "belligerent." The incident happened on Thursday at about 7:15 a.m. in front of 2349 Andrews Avenue in the Bronx when police responded to a 911 call of a man with a knife, a New York City Police Department spokesperson said. When officers arrived at the scene and began engaging with the man, the spokesperson said that he "became combative/belligerent with the responding officers." The man then allegedly slashed one of the officers in the nose with a knife.

Two people were fatally stabbed, and six others were injured Thursday on the Las Vegas Strip and a suspect was in custody, police said.  The rampage began just before 11:45 a.m. when the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received reports of multiple victims on South Las Vegas Boulevard near the Wynn Las Vegas hotel.  Authorities said three of the surviving victims were in critical condition.

The ex-con accused of fatally gunning down the father of a Marist College student inside a Courtyard Marriott in upstate New York – showed a murderous streak in the past.  Roy Johnson, 35, was arrested Sunday for the slaying of acountant and father of three Paul Kutz in Poughkeepsie in the lobby of the hotel where both men were staying, according to police. Back in December 2005 during a violent robbery, Johnson, then 19, and an accomplice kicked in acquittance Amin Hinson's front door in broad daylight, then aimed a silver revolver at Michael Jones' head, court records show. "Shut the f---- up or I will kill you!" Johnson threatened.

The suspect accused of killing 20-year-old Purdue University student Varun Manish Chheda said "I love my family" before entering jail on Wednesday after being charged with murder. Ji Min Sha, 22, was identified as the suspect and made a 911 call at 12:44 a.m.

The minor’s father, Freddie Lee Trone, 40, is still at large. The LAPD has released his photograph and requested public assistance in locating him. Rock, 30 (real name: Rakim Allen) was murdered at Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles, where he had been dining with his girlfriend. A gunman demanded jewelry and other valuables from him before getting into a struggle with PnB and opening fire, LAPD Chief Michel Moore told the Times. Moore added that the shooting occurred soon after the rapper was tagged online as being at the restaurant, and police are investigating whether the post led to the attack, although an earlier report in TMZ says that the attackers had been sitting in the restaurant’s parking lot at the time of the post. That report also says that Trone and his son burned the getaway car in an effort to destroy evidence.
