Suspect in Los Angeles sexual assault of teen girl arrested after kidnapping caught on video, police say

Haleigh Breest finished testifying Tuesday in her sexual assault civil trial against filmmaker Paul Haggis, and jurors began watching the video deposition of another Haggis accuser who has said she went to his office in Los Angeles in 2008 to discuss a possible book adaption and wound up fleeing the building when he suddenly tried to kiss her.

A Los Angeles prosecutor told jurors on Monday that multiple accusers will provide graphic and violent accounts of being sexually assaulted by Harvey Weinstein, as the producer faced his second criminal trial.

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in the beating death of a Los Angeles liquor store clerk and authorities seeking three other suspects.  Steven Reyes, 68, was killed on Oct. 6 following a robbery outside Tony’s Market in the Highland Park neighborhood.

Los Angeles police released chilling surveillance video showing a man kidnapping a 14-year-old at a park in El Sereno before allegedly forcing the victim into a bathroom and sexually assaulting the teen.  Edward William Banks, 27, was arrested on Tuesday and is currently held on $1 million bail on the charge of aggravated kidnapping to commit rape.  The case will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said. The body of a woman was found Thursday inside a clothing donation box near Los Angeles, authorities said.  The unidentified woman climbed into the box in Santa Clarita and was reported around 10 a.m. near the intersection of Orchard Village Road and Lyons Avenue., the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said, Fox Los Angeles reported.

Scrubs and Californication, has been charged with 18 counts of sexual assault.The producer was initially arrested in July in Los Angeles and released on a $3.2million (£2.8m) bond. On Tuesday (October 4), he was arrested again and released on a $5million (£4.4m) bond.In a press conference on Wednesday, LA district attorney George Gascon, said: “The defendant relied on his Hollywood credentials to lure young women for photo shoots where he allegedly sexually assaulted them.“Power and influence can corrupt some to hurt others that often leads to a lifetime of trauma for those who are victimised.”The 18 charges announced include six counts of sexual penetration by use of force, four counts of oral copulation, three counts of forcible rape, and two counts of sexual battery by restraint.Weinberg also faces charges of assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury, attempted sexual penetration by use of force and false imprisonment by violence.The alleged incidents, which involve five women, occurred between 2014 and 2019.Weinberg was previously arrested for 20 counts of sexual assault in July.

Eric Weinberg, 62, is said to have “relied on his Hollywood credentials” to lure young women to photo shoots where he is alleged to have assaulted them, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney.The charges stem from alleged incidents involving five different women in the years between 2014 and 2019.

A Los Angeles security guard is speaking out about California's homeless crisis after he lost his finger during a stabbing attack by a homeless man in Venice last year. Tariq Ali – who also goes by T – approached a drunk homeless man on June 3, 2021 after noticing the man loiter near a school. Ali immediately recognized the man, who frequented the area and was asked to leave before.

The “Scrubs” co-executive producer and writer is out of custody after posting a $5 million bond. The 62-year-old Weinberg was charged with six counts of sexual penetration by use of force, four counts of oral copulation, three counts of forcible rape, two counts of sexual battery by restraint and one count each of assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury, attempted sexual penetration by use of force and false imprisonment by violence.

Eric Weinberg, a television writer and producer best known for his work on “Scrubs”, has been charged with 18 counts of sexual assault.
