Joe Trohman, founding member and guitarist of Fall Out Boy, has reunited with his bandmates after a months-long hiatus to concentrate on his mental health.

The guitarist and founding member announced his return on social media on Monday. “Hey everyone, I’m officially back!,” he wrote. “I want to thank everyone for the love and support while I took some time away to focus on my brain and get healthy for my family, my friends and myself.” He also thanked Ben Young, the band’s longtime guitar tech, who filled in for him during the hiatus. Trohman announced his mental-health break in January, shortly after the band announced its eighth album, “So Much (for) Stardust,” and a new label deal with Fueled by Ramen/ Elektra Records.

Ethan Shanfeld Buck Meek, the Texas-born singer-songwriter and guitarist of Big Thief, has signed to 4AD and announced his third solo album, “Haunted Mountain,” slated for an Aug. 25 release. Meek teased the upcoming release with a music video for the lead single, also titled “Haunted Mountain,” which is co-written by Jolie Holland. The album, according to the announcement, is about love and “something bigger than love, something that doesn’t challenge love exactly but stands in contrast to it. A soulfulness, or a soul-seeking fullness.” In Meek’s own words, “Not break-up songs, but an actual love song written in earnest? That is taboo now. Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Rhino Records is launching a quarterly series of limited-edition vinyl releases intended to appeal to LP-loving audiophiles, with records that are cut directly from analog sources by one of the most revered names in the mastering business, Kevin Gray. The first two releases in the Rhino High Fidelity series, both out today, are the Cars’ self-titled debut album from 1978 and John Coltrane’s 1964 album “Coltrane’s Sound.” It won’t be a high-volume series: The releases will be limited to 5,000 numbered copies, with only two new titles issued per quarter. Each catalog album will have lacquers cut by Gray from the original analog tapes, pressed on 180-gram vinyl, with glossy, fold-out, “tip-on” jackets in the old-school style and supplemental printed inserts with modern essays or interviews.

Caffey co-wrote some of the group’s biggest hits and was the sole songwriter on its signature song, “We Got the Beat.” Since its release in 1981, the song has become the group’s most successful and most-covered track. She also had a hand in writing the group’s hits “Head Over Heels,” “Vacation,” “How Much More” and “Turn to You.” Beyond her work with The Go-Go’s, Caffey has also written songs covered by such artists as Keith Urban (the country hit “But for the Grace of God”) and her Go-Go’s bandmate Belinda Carlisle, as well as in the film and TV space, where she’s written several theme songs, including for the “Clueless” TV series.

Pop-punk band Sum 41 have announced they're splitting up after 27 years as a band. The group, fronted by Deryck Whibley, announced on social media today the group will be going their separate ways after an upcoming album release and farewell tour. Tim Bachman, a member of Bachman-Turner Overdrive has died at the age of 71. Tim's death was confirmed by his brother Randy Bachman and his son via social media. "I haven’t posted because my heart has been heavy but the news has announced my brother Tim passed this weekend," Randy shared Monday.

Ethan Shanfeld Tim Bachman, the founding guitarist and vocalist of Canadian rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive, has died due to complications from cancer, his son Ryder confirmed on Friday. “Grateful I got to spend some time with him at the end,” Ryder wrote on Facebook. “Grab yer loved ones and hug em close, ya never know how long you have.” In a previous post, he wrote that doctors had found “cancer riddled all throughout his brain.” He continued, “I sat with Dad yesterday afternoon and reminisced about some of the good times we had. He was pretty out of it most of the time, but at one point looked up at me with really, big wide eyes and said, ‘I love you Paxton, keep sharing the music…’ and then passed back out. It’s really hard watching your parent lay in bed helpless and sick and there’s nothing you can do to help them. Breaking my heart.”

Aerosmith fans will have one last chance to see the band perform live as the classic rockers announced their farewell tour. The hit band, fronted by Steven Tyler, will embark on the "Peace Out" tour in Philadelphia on Sept. 12, then play 40 shows before wrapping it up in Montreal on Jan.
