Esther Rose has announced a new EP with a cover of Nick Lowe’s “Blue on Blue.” My Favorite Mistakes is due out May 29 via Father Daughter and comprises covers of four of Rose’s favorite melancholic songs. Check out “Blue on Blue” below.

Global Citizen has shared the soundtrack to the One World: Together at Home broadcast, a livestreamed event in support of the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization. The 79-song album featuring live performances from the event is out now via Universal; all streaming revenue from the compilation will also be donated to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Activist, author, and filmmaker Rose McGowan is releasing her first album of original music: Planet 9 is out this Friday, April 24. “When I was a small child going through tough times, I created a utopian world in my mind and I named it Planet 9,” McGowan explained in a statement. “I felt safe on this invented planet of mine. I also used to wonder what sounds existed on my planet.”

Chelsea Peretti, the stand-up comedian who starred in the original run of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has announced her first musical project. The new album of comedic songs—a concept album about coffee—arrives in June.

Today (April 20), Mike Dean, the producer/multi-instrumentalist known for his work with Kanye West and Travis Scott, has released a new instrumental mixtape titled 4:20. “I have always had this idea that I wanted to release my own music on the date 4/20,” Dean explained in a press release.

The Infamous, Mobb Deep’s classic 1995 album, is getting a 25th anniversary digital-only reissue. The new expanded edition includes bonus tracks previously unavailable on streaming, including “Shook One, Part I” (Original Version) and the Infamous Sessions Mixes of “The Money (Version 2)” and “Lifestyles of the Infamous.” The Infamous - 25th Anniversary Expanded Edition arrives this Friday, April 24, via Certified Classics. A vinyl anniversary reissue is set to be released later this year.

Matthew Dear has announced a new techno project called Brain, as Resident Advisor points out. He’s also shared “Boss,” the lead single from Brain’s forthcoming release The World EP, which arrives May 15 via Detroit label Planet E Communications. Listen to “Boss” below.

DaBaby has released his second official album. The Charlotte rapper’s follow-up to 2019’s KIRK is called Blame It on Baby. Big Thief have shared a new collection of demos. Demos Vol. 1 - Topanga Canyon, CA - Feb 2018 features five songs, including three that have never been released and two that appeared on Adrianne Lenker’s 2018 album abysskiss. The sessions eventually led to the albums U.F.O.F. and Two Hands.

Naeem Juwan, the Baltimore-born and Los Angeles–based artist formerly known as Spank Rock, has announced his new album Startisha. The LP is out June 12 via 37d03d. According to a press release, Naeem began working on Startisha four years ago in Philadelphia. He later continued work on the record at Justin Vernon’s home studio. Startisha features contributions from Vernon, Francis and the Lights, Ryan Olson, Swamp Dogg, Velvet Negroni, Amanda Blank, and Micah James.

The score to Hayao Miyazaki’s beloved 1997 environmentalist animated film Princess Mononoke is getting its first-ever release on vinyl, according to The Vinyl Factory.

Bing & Ruth, the project led of New York composer David Moore, has announced a new album. Species is out July 17 via 4AD. Moore’s also shared a new video for the new song “I Had No Dream.” Watch it below.

Muzz—the new band of Paul Banks, producer/multi-instrumentalist Josh Kaufman, and Matt Barrick—have shared a new song along with the announcement that their debut album is on the way. Amnesia Scanner—the Berlin-based duo of Ville Haimala and Martti Kalliala—are back with a new album. It’s called Tearless and it’s set to arrive on June 5 via PAN. The Streets are back. The UK rap project, led by Mike Skinner, have returned with a new Tame Impala collaboration called “Call My Phone Thinking I’m Doing Nothing Better.” It’s the first song to be released from Skinner’s forthcoming mixtape None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive—out July 10 via Island. The tape marks the Streets’ first full-length since 2011’s Computers and Blues. Check out the video for the new track below.

Bob Nanna, best known as the frontman of Braid and Hey Mercedes, has announced his first solo full-length under his own name. The album is called Celebration States and it’s out July 10 (via New Granada). Pure X—the trio of Nate Grace, Jesse Jenkins V, and Austin Youngblood—has announced their first new album in six years. The band’s self-titled fourth album arrives May 1 via Fire Talk, with a physical release to follow on July 3. A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip has announced three upcoming albums. In a video posted on his Instagram account on April 10 (also his 50th birthday), Q-Tip sat playing a bass riff as text appeared announcing three titles: Algorhythms, Riot Diaries, and The Last Zulu. Grizzly Bear drummer Christopher Bear has announced his first solo record, as BrooklynVegan notes. Bear, who records under the name Fools, will release Fools’ Harp Vol. 1 on May 18 via Music From Memory. Below, hear a new song called “Deefyfe.”

As teased, the Mountain Goats have released a new album via Merge. This one’s called Songs for Pierre Chuvin. According to a press release, it’s the first time since 2002’s All Hail West Texas that John Darnielle has recorded an album entirely on his boombox. Iggy Pop has announced new 2xCD reissues of his classic albums The Idiot and Lust for Life. In addition to remastered versions of the original albums, the reissues feature bonus live discs: Live at The Rainbow Theatre, recorded at London’s Finsbury Park in 1977, and TV Eye Live, respectively.

Matador Records is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Pavement’s Wowee Zowee with a new picture disc. The 7" is cut into the shape of a speech bubble and includes “Sensitive Euro Man” on its A-side with “Brink of the Clouds/Candylad” on the B-side. John Carpenter’s classic 1982 film The Thing featured an original score from legendary composer Ennio Morricone. Carpenter himself provided some additional music cues for the film to supplement Morricone’s score, and a new release features a collection of Carpenter’s unreleased music from the film.
