Baths Announces New Album, Shares New Song: Listen

Local Afrikaans pop group Die Heuwels Fantasties have become a vital part of South African music culture in recent years, and the success of their recent singles ‘Jy Stel My Teleur’ en die ‘Mejuffrou Sonneblom’ has only proven that the group is, without a doubt, one of the country’s most talented and versatile bands.

Matthew Dear has announced a new techno project called Brain, as Resident Advisor points out. He’s also shared “Boss,” the lead single from Brain’s forthcoming release The World EP, which arrives May 15 via Detroit label Planet E Communications. Listen to “Boss” below.

Bishop Nehru has released a new song that was produced by and features a guest appearance from MF DOOM. It’s called “Meathead,” and you can hear it below. The new track is set to appear on the New York rapper-producer’s new album Nehruvia: My Disregarded Thoughts, which is out May 8.

Kelly Rowland has released a new song called “COFFEE.” It follows Rowland’s 2019 single Crown,” an anti-bullying song made in partnership with Dove. Listen to “COFFEE” below.

21 Savage and Summer Walker have joined forces for the new single “Secret.” It’s the second collaboration from the Atlanta artists: Last year, they both appeared on Jhené Aiko’s “Triggered (freestyle) Remix.” Listen to “Secret,” produced by Kid Hazel, below.

Naeem Juwan, the Baltimore-born and Los Angeles–based artist formerly known as Spank Rock, has announced his new album Startisha. The LP is out June 12 via 37d03d. According to a press release, Naeem began working on Startisha four years ago in Philadelphia. He later continued work on the record at Justin Vernon’s home studio. Startisha features contributions from Vernon, Francis and the Lights, Ryan Olson, Swamp Dogg, Velvet Negroni, Amanda Blank, and Micah James.

Bing & Ruth, the project led of New York composer David Moore, has announced a new album. Species is out July 17 via 4AD. Moore’s also shared a new video for the new song “I Had No Dream.” Watch it below.

Amnesia Scanner—the Berlin-based duo of Ville Haimala and Martti Kalliala—are back with a new album. It’s called Tearless and it’s set to arrive on June 5 via PAN. Listen to “AS Going” from the LP below. The new album, which follows up their 2018 full-length Another Life, features Lalita, Code Orange, and LYZZA.

Bob Nanna, best known as the frontman of Braid and Hey Mercedes, has announced his first solo full-length under his own name. The album is called Celebration States and it’s out July 10 (via New Granada). The record includes last year’s “Do You Want to Buy a Guitar?” and a new track called “Mr. Albatross.” Hear both songs below (via Alternative Press).

Grizzly Bear drummer Christopher Bear has announced his first solo record, as BrooklynVegan notes. Bear, who records under the name Fools, will release Fools’ Harp Vol. 1 on May 18 via Music From Memory. Below, hear a new song called “Deefyfe.”

Kodie Shane has released a new mixtape. Quarantine is a four-track project that the Atlanta rapper made at home over the last two weeks. Check out the mixtape, made in collaboration with Saucy Longwe, below.

Phoebe Bridgers has announced her sophomore solo album: Punisher is out June 19 via Dead Oceans. Courtney Garvin, best known as a member of the Courtneys, has a new band with multi-instrumentalist Connor Mayer called Gum Country. Today, they’ve announced their debut album. It’s titled Somewhere and it’s out June 19 (via Kingfisher Bluez/Burger/Dinosaur City/Waterslide). Check out the album’s title track in the video below.

(Sandy) Alex G has shared a new song titled “rosebush.” The largely-instrumental track is accompanied by video that contains a short story about a woman named Joanna, three yowling grey cats, and the titular rosebush. The story also has the line, “Crawl back to your hole, rat!,” written many times. Check out the song and video below.

Greg Fox—the composer and virtuoso drummer for Ex Eye, Liturgy, Zs, and more— has announced a new album. Contact is out May 29 via RVNG Intl. The follow-up to 2017’s The Gradual Progression, Contact was produced and mixed by Randall Dunn. A portion of its proceeds will benefit the Dhamma Dharā Vipassana Meditation Center.
