Netflix has acquired the animation studio Animal Logic, which is behind films like “Happy Feet,” “The Lego Movie” franchise and Netflix’s upcoming animated film “The Magician’s Elephant.” The acquisition will support Netflix’s original animated film slate, which already includes titles like “Klaus,” “Over the Moon” and the upcoming “The Sea Beast.” More to come…

Atari‘s 50th anniversary, the LEGO Group has unveiled the LEGO Atari 2600, a recreation of the iconic console.The LEGO Atari 2600 set was revealed today (July 19) and will be available from August 1 on the LEGO Store for £209. The main console, which is based on the 1980 four-switch revision of the Atari, is black and orange and features recreated toggles and buttons, as well as an open mechanism.

Lego’s newest pop culture crossover has turned the iconic people and places of NBC’s “The Office” into its newest play set — and they didn’t skip over any detail.Michael Scott, Pam, Jim, Angela, Dwight and 10 more of of the beloved sitcom’s reccurring characters — except for Andy, who Lego said is working on his “management skills” — have been Lego-fied. Producers Dan Lin and Chris Miller spoke about the return of the theatrical release market during a conversation at the Produced By conference. Lego Movie co-director Miller presented his producer Lin with the inaugural Vance Van Petten Award for entrepreneurial spirit. One of Miller’s questions for Lin was: are movies back, in the wake of the success of Top Gun: Maverick and Jurassic World Dominion?

very close to having his entire performance in “The Lego Movie” — along with all live-action scenes — end up on the cutting room floor, the film’s producer, Dan Lin, said Saturday at PGA’s Produced By Conference.Lin recalled the uphill battle that went into the building blocks of the hybrid animated and live-action movie, revealing that Warner Bros. initially wanted to cut the latter chunk of the film that included scenes featuring Ferrell.During a conversation with Chris Miller, who penned the screenplay for the 2014 hit along with writing-producing partner Phil Lord, Lin said the budget demands from the studio forced him to treat the family comedy as an “indie movie.” The Rideback Ranch founder even had to pre-sell the basement set, which featured the human characters, to Legoland as an exhibit to partially fund the movie.
