Wigs. If Cynthia Nixon is going to pull off starring in three series at one time it’s going to be thanks to the power of wigs.

There isn’t a lot of middle ground this Emmy season. Either a category is insanely competitive or so wide open that contenders one might have considered fringe candidates any other year have a good shot at a nomination.

Could history be made this Emmy season? Possibly and if so, it might just be in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series category. That is if M.J.

We’ve scoured candidates from the past year months of television and come up with just 12 actors that we believe have a shot at an Emmy nomination for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Eight of them will make it, but at this point, we’d only bet on one of them, “The Handmaid’s Tale’s” Bradley Whitford.

Kaley Cuoco was nominated for a SAG Award, Critics Choice Award, and Golden Globe for her performance in “The Flight Attendant.” Unfortunately, she lost all of them. Thankfully, the qualifying contenders for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series are slightly less competitive for the 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Here’s the thing about the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. This is pretty much Jason Sudeikis‘ to lose.

In 2017, three actresses from “Saturday Night Live” were nominated in the Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category for the 69th Emmy Awards. That was half the nominees in that category.

If you can correctly predict the six Emmy nominees for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series this year then you better go place a bet in Vegas. This category is so wide open that only one actor may repeat their nomination from 2020.
