Queen of the skydive, great-granny Irene Cattanach (80) kept her word and jumped out of a plane on Saturday, November 25.
Irene from Aberfeldy has raised thousands of pounds for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance by her brave decision to do a tandem parachute jump.
Her first attempt to jump out of an aircraft was scratched after windy weather grounded planes on November 5.
Irene got a last-minute call-up last weekend and, after hearing her jump spot was booked for the next day, “had a troubled night” wondering if she had the guts to go through with it the next morning.
It was a freezing but sunny clear day at Errol Airfield when Irene took her place among a group of jittery jumpers.
“I didn’t like sitting on my jump buddy’s lap, but that’s how it works I guess,” said Irene of being strapped to a stranger.
Having no door on the light aircraft as it climbed to a mile and a half above Errol was “scary” and she was not too delighted to be “shoved out into the void,” on Saturday, November 25.
