Pep Guardiola is confident that Erling Haaland can match his levels from last season after a record-breaking start in English football.
Haaland smashed goals in for fun for Manchester City after signing from Borussia Dortmund, scoring 52 in all competitions and setting a new Premier League standard on the way. All eyes are on the Norwegian star to see if he can repeat the feat but he was unable to get off the mark in the Community Shield as he blanked against Arsenal.
City's No.9 was only given an hour to make his mark before being taken off for Cole Palmer, who would go on to score City's goal in the game after being fed by Kevin De Bruyne. Guardiola dismissed the idea that there was an injury concern for Haaland but did emphasise that the big striker does need looking after.
As the team prepare for the defence of their Premier League title, Guardiola not only expects Haaland to be in better shape going into their opening game at Burnley on Friday but also thinks he can be similarly devastating in front of goal.

"He's a winner, he has a good mentality," said Guardiola. "He needs minutes and rhythm. He is so tall and big, moving his body is completely different from Bernardo [Silva] or Phil [Foden] or the other players. Today he played 60-65 minutes and I'm pretty sure against Burnley he will be in better condition."
City begin their Premier League title defence in just four days' time at Turf Moor.
