De Bruyne blow
Manchester City are resigned to being without Kevin De Bruyne for months as they weigh up whether the star midfielder needs surgery.
De Bruyne fought his way back to fitness for the start of the season after snapping his hamstring in the Champions League final, having played with the injury for a few months at the back end of last season. The Belgian looked bright when he came on in the second half of the Community Shield but lasted only 20 minutes against Burnley before coming off with the same injury.
City initially feared it was a bad one and scans have proven them right. Guardiola said that there are alternatives, but could not hide the fact that it is a huge disappointment for the club that they will not be able to count on one of their players who is 'irreplaceable'.

A decision will be made soon on the surgery, although City's preferred specialist Dr Ramon Cugat has already seen the images of the injury as well as a few other doctors; all share the same opinion. "It's a serious injury. We have to decide on surgery but he will be out for a few months," the manager said.

Lewis ambitions
Rico Lewis has signed his 'dream' contract at Manchester City, where he will remain until 2028.
Lewis, 18, had one year left on his current contract, but has now signed a four-year extension on improved terms after playing a significant role in City's treble-winning season in 2022/23. After being taken on the pre-season tour last summer, Lewis impressed Pep Guardiola and was handed 23 appearances in his breakthrough campaign.
