But with wintry conditions set to continue next week, the UKHSA and the Met Office are warning that there could be "significant impacts" on the UK's health service. The warning states that there could be an "increase in mortality" due to the severe weather, especially in the over 65s age group.
There could also be an "increased demand for remote health care services" and fewer health care services available due to the impact on the sector's workforce. The warning also says it may become challenging for some to keep their homes heated to the recommended 18C due to the cold weather.
The Met Office says there is a chance that "potentially impactful snow" will hit the region next week as an arctic airmass exerts its influence on the UK’s weather. A northerly airflow will bring cold arctic air to the UK from Sunday and into early next week, with snow showers focused across northern areas of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
