Parts of the UK have been subjected to an amber 'danger to life' warning over the weekend.
The Met Office's amber wind warning will be in place from Sunday, January 21 at 6pm until Monday, January 22 at 9pm. Major areas covered by the warning include York, Newcastle upon Tyne, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Bangor, Swansea, and Cardiff.
It comes as Storm Isha is expected to bring in a wave of extremely strong winds throughout the end of the weekend, with the Met Office warning of disruptions to travel and utilities. An amber warning also means that there is a higher chance of injuries and danger to life resulting from the unsettled conditions, including from large waves and beach material that could be thrown onto coastal roads and seafront.

The areas of particular concern are reflected by a large Amber severe weather warning which covers Northern Ireland, central and southern Scotland, Wales, much of northern England as well as southwestern parts of England.
“In these regions we could see gusts frequently between 50-60mph and even up to 80mph in exposed coastal locations. As the storm starts to move away on Monday morning very strong winds will also develop in the far southeast of England, bringing the risk of 70-80mph gusts here too in the early hours of Monday morning.
