Going back to the 1970s, “Saturday Night Live” has long been a breeding ground and launching pad for comedians transforming into bonafide stars. Sometimes that’s SNL regulars, sometimes its writers turned filmmakers (Adam McKay, for example), and sometimes it’s whole package teams like The Lonely Island crew who write, direct and star in their shorts and films.

Well, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood made a cinematic rendition of its recent history. But “She Said” is much more than that.

The superhero genre couldn’t be more popular. Marvel and DC films dominate the box office, and the latter has become a juggernaut of intertwined franchises to surpass the dominance of things like “Star Wars.” With that in mind, other studios that don’t have that sort of deep bench of comic book heroes have been adapting obscure or long-forgotten heroes in an attempt to strike gold.

With Pride Month in full swing, it only makes sense that Universal Pictures wants to promote their upcoming romantic comedy “Bros” as much as possible. And “Boys” deserves all the hype it can get.

It’s been over a decade since the last adventure in the “Shrek” universe (if you don’t count Netflix‘s ‘The Adventures Of Puss In Boots‘ series). But prepare to head back to that world’s offbeat take on fairytale lore with “Puss In Boots: The Last Wish,” a sequel to that series and the 2011 film.
