Well, filmmaker Matthew Vaughn just gave up the game-his endgame, really-in a new interview with “Happy Sad Confused” (yes, the gift that keeps on giving this week). The gist of his master plan? It’s ambitious and essentially doing for spies, with his company MARV, what Marvel has done for superheroes: an interconnected universe of espionage franchise, yes, all of his own.

Believe it or not, buried in all the talk of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “The Matrix Resurrections,” there is a new ‘Kingsman’ film in theaters. The prequel, “The King’s Man,” is once again directed by Matthew Vaughn, but this time transports us back a century to see the early days of the Kingsman spy organization.

While film and TV content based on the comic book work of Mark Millar seems to be hit-or-miss, with “Jupiter’s Legacy” recently being canceled after only one season (a season that cost a reported $200 million), you can’t deny the popularity of his ‘Kingsman’ franchise, which has been brought to life by filmmaker Matthew Vaughn.

The dominos are beginning to tumble, folks. As everyone expected, with films like “Morbius” and “No Time to Die” vacating the spring release timeframe, we’re beginning to see the rest of the major films begin to move to later in 2021, including a group of films from Disney and its subsidiaries.

With two fairly successful films under his belt in the “Kingsman” franchise, filmmaker Matthew Vaughn is still prepping his prequel film, “The King’s Man” for release sometime…in the future? Honestly, with how movie theaters are doing right now, we have no idea where/when we’ll see “The King’s Man.” That said, it appears that Vaughn’s production company, MARV, is far, far, FAR from done with the franchise and has several new sequels and spinoffs in the works.

Believe it or not, it’s been 13 years since Matthew Vaughn has directed a film that doesn’t have comic book ties. It was 2007’s “Stardust” (which is actually based on a Neil Gaiman property, so there is a bit of a comic book angle there) that allowed Vaughn the opportunity to build a film that didn’t rely on some sort of comic book origins.

A new trailer of Ralph Fiennes starrer action-comedy The King's Man is out and it gives a sneak peek into the origin of the very first independent intelligence agency. The film is a prequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017).
