I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, despite being a show about macho biker guys, “Mayans M.C.” has some of the most layered and interesting female characters on TV right now. And perhaps no character exemplifies that more than Emily, played by the wonderful Sarah Bolger.

Even though the body is still a bit warm and only just buried, it’s time to officially close the book on FX’s “Mayans M.C.” And what better way to do that than with an extended interview with the creative mastermind behind the series, Elgin James? But that’s how you can describe Adelita, aka Louisa, on “Mayans M.C.” She’s a rebel leader and a killer, but she’s also a caring mother and protector.

Dating back to the “Sons of Anarchy” years, the universe that “Mayans M.C.” lives in is overrun with big, macho biker guys. But there are also such great female characters.

A great villain is a necessity on a show like “Mayans M.C.” This is a series where the lines between bad and good are constantly blurred, and you are just rooting for what might be the lesser of two evils. Thankfully, actor J.R.

Mayans MC final season is upon us. Season 5 of the FX’s popular biker gang series is set to return for its final season with a bang. The first teaser trailer for the show’s fifth and final season was recently released, and it gives fans a taste of what’s to come.

Though it never won any major awards, FX’s long-running “Sons of Anarchy” is one of the most popular series to ever grace the cable network. In fact, the show’s recent spinoff, “Mayans M.C.,” is one of the best spinoffs in recent memory and easily one of the most underrated series on TV today.

If you’ve listened to The Playlist Podcast consistently over the past couple of years, you know I’m a huge fan of “Mayans M.C.” Yes, the biker drama on FX that is a “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff. In fact, I think it might just be the best series on TV today.

The elevator pitch for FX’s “Mayans M.C.” is simple—a spinoff of the hugely popular biker drama, “Sons of Anarchy,” the new show follows a Mexican-American motorcycle club from Southern California who dabbles in a bit of drug-running for cartels and battling the authorities. And for the first two seasons, that’s exactly what it was.

“Mayans MC” recently debuted its fourth season with what might be the best episode of the series to date. The acclaimed FX drama, which follows the story of the titular SoCal motorcycle club, is one of the most brutal and emotional series on TV right now and is criminally overlooked around awards season.

Created by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James, and spawned from the same fictional universe as “Sons of Anarchy,” dealing with the Sons’ rivals-turned-allies, “Mayans M.C.” has really come into its own in recent years and even changed its tone in recent years as Elgin James has taken over as sole showrunner. Building up viewership and popularity over time, “Mayans M.C.” is about to be in its fourth season, which debuts on F.X.

With more films finally hitting theaters (despite COVID concerns) and streaming services releasing record numbers of films and TV series this year, we’re seeing so many projects fall between the cracks. It used to be that film/TV fans could cherry-pick what to watch and somewhat keep up with all the new releases.

After last night’s finale, “Mayans MC” has just wrapped up its third season on FX. But if you’ve been watching the series since the beginning, you know that Season 3 is a milestone for ‘Mayans,’ as it shed its “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff title and became something…else.
