It’s been recently reported that Marvel Studios is going after a leaker on social media by trying to get Meta to give personal information about an anonymous account. They’re mad that this person is seemingly sharing copyrighted information early.

While Jon Watts likely doesn’t have the long, beloved career of Sam Raimi, he does have one thing the iconic filmmaker doesn’t – a beloved “Spider-Man” trilogy. And as the director with the most successful ‘Spidey’ run, Watts’ advice to the next person who will take the helm isn’t exactly what you might expect.

When James Gunn took over as co-CEO of DC Studios, he made it very clear that he would like to bring some of his Marvel Studios actor friends over to the new universe he is crafting. One such person who is seemingly ready, willing, and able to join DC Studios is Chris Pratt.

Marvel Studios has finally found an actor to play cosmic supervillain Galactus for their “Fantastic Four” reboot helmed by Matt Shakman (“WandaVision”). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ralph Inseon (“The Green Knight”) has been selected for the fan-favorite villain, Galactus, who is expected to share scenes with Julia Garner’s Shalla-Bal, aka The Silver Surfer (potentially a nod to the Earth-X run of comics).

Marvel Studios may be struggling a bit right now, but there’s one aspect of the studio that has never been in question– the casting. Besides obvious standouts like Robert Downey, Jr.

Whenever Marvel releases a project that deals with the idea of a multiverse, fans go crazy with rumors about who will show up as a cameo. And for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the multiverse story was compounded by the fact that many believe the film will end the “X-Men” universe that began over at Fox in 2000.

As everyone knows, the otherwise untouchable Marvel Studios had a particularly rough 2023. The disappointment of “Ant-Man: Quantumania,” the box office flop of “The Marvels,” and the critically reviled Disney+ series, “Secret Invasion,” severely put the studio on the ropes for the first time ever.

It’s not really news to say that Disney CEO Bob Iger is going to be a bit more hands-on with Marvel Studios in the future. The executive has made several comments in the past about reducing the number of projects the studio releases, as well as making sure the films and TV series that are released are of the best quality.

There have been a million thinkpieces about the current state of Marvel Studios. Is Kevin Feige’s record-breaking studio in trouble? Will Bob Iger force the studio to cut down on the number of projects? Do audiences even care anymore? Well, we don’t have real answers about any of that, other than to say things are definitely not as rosy as they were when “Avengers: Endgame” was destroying the box office in 2019.

Sometimes the fan campaigning really works, though in this case, the fan is actor Giancarlo Esposito, known for his roles in “Breaking Bad,” and “The Mandalorian.” In the last year or more, Esposito has made it no secret that he’s been eager to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, seemingly talking it up every chance he gets and telling audiences. Previously, the actor revealed he had met with Marvel Studios and said he was keen to play a new version of Professor X in the “X-Men” movies.

Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster “Captain America: Brave New World” isn’t due in theaters until February 2024, but as you may have noticed by now, companies like McDonald’s are already advertising the film, and various pieces of marketing have revealed some early spoilers (beware, spoilers discussed below in this article). The issue, it seems, is that “Captain America: Brave New World” was initially scheduled for release this summer, with a date that once included May 3, 2024, and a subsequent date for July 26, 2024.

As you are likely well aware, the Walt Disney Company bought 20th Century Fox back in 2019, just one year after “Deadpool 2” hit theaters, and in the process, became the owners of all of Fox’s Marvel properties, The Fantastic Four, X-Men, and the Deadpool franchise. But if you’re wondering why it took so long for a third ‘Deadpool’ movie to happen, six years after the second film, well, we finally have answers.

Relatively still fresh on his Emmy and Golden Globe-winning performance for his supporting turn in the Apple TV+ series, “Black Bird,” acclaimed actor Paul Walter Hauser (“I, Tonya,” “Richard Jewell”) is looking to chart his next on-screen appearances for 2025.  Having just booked a role in “The Naked Gun” reboot starring Liam Neeson, Hauser has landed a role in Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four.” No character details are available, but Hauser will be joining a big ensemble that includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr.

Yes, the countdowns to “Deadpool & Wolverine” have started; they are real; there are websites dedicated to it, and as of right now, the film is 85 days away from release. The irony around it all might be Marvel’s release strategy.

When Taika Waititi released “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017, the refreshingly comedic take on God Of Thunder was overwhelmingly well received, with fans loving the more irreverent take on the Norse God. Most critics and fans still consider it the best “Thor” film.

When the highly-anticipated blockbuster superhero film “Deadpool & Wolverine” slashes its way into theatres this July, fans can expect to see the nostalgic return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and probably a whole ton of cameos, if the rumors and meta trailer jokes are any indication. However, as already reported, one character that viewers may have wanted to see but sadly won’t be in the anticipated blockbuster is Josh Brolin’s Cable, who previously appeared in “Deadpool 2.” Brolin’s absence from the film is already known; he was never reported as part of the film, and there’s no trace of him in any of the recent trailers; he even joked that he had beef with “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds.

The movie industry is arguably waiting around for “Deadpool & Wolverine” to hit theaters, Marvel Studios’ only film of 2024, though hopefully someone enlivens the box office before then. Originally scheduled to be a May 3 release at the top of the summer, the film was delayed because of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike of 2023, moving the film into July (before that, there were two previous fall dates in 2023 that the film also had to push off from).

Despite being released during the pandemic in 2021, “Spider-Man: Now Way Home” became the most successful ‘Spider-Man’ installment of all time at the box office, earning a whopping $1.9 billion for Sony Pictures. So, putting “Spider-Man 4” into production is clearly one of the studio’s biggest priorities, along with getting Tom Holland,  Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon back into their key roles.

The Marvel Animation revival of the “X-Men: The Animated Series” with Marvel’s “X-Men ’97” is becoming one of the more popular animated projects ever to grace Disney+. It is so popular with fans at the moment that the creators have been asked all kinds of questions.

While he’d only shot a few films up to that point, thanks to his compelling turn in season four of “Stranger Things,” British actor Joseph Quinn quickly shot into the stratosphere and became a much-in-demand up-and-comer. Following that series, he promptly booked roles in “Gladiator II,” “A Quiet Place: Day One,” and, of course, the much-coveted role of Johnny Storm in Marvel’s upcoming “The Fantastic Four” movie, arriving in the summer of 2025.

This July, Marvel Studios’ first and only feature film release of 2024, “Deadpool & Wolverine.” In the latest installment in The Multiverse Saga, Ryan Reynolds’ merc-with-a-mouth, Wade Wilson, is on the cusp of joining Earth-616 (teased in the first trailer), with Deadpool finally getting paired up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in yet another adventure on the big screen. However, director Shawn Levy (“The Adam Project”) cautions that his new sequels are different from the previous two installments during the Fox era of the franchise, which is not so much a solo outing.

After last year, Marvel Studios finds themselves sitting where they’ve never sat before: the hot seat. “Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania” kicked off the MCU‘s Phase 5 with a thud, “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.

While the Marvel Studios narrative generally goes: an unimpeachable run at the box-office and with critics until 2023’s flop “The Marvels,” a closer inspection of the whole story arguably shows chinks starting to show in the armor during the pandemic. While it’s unfair to compare the box office of pandemic-era movies like “Shang Chi” and “Black Widow” to their non-pandemic counterparts, one film that seemed to take it in the teeth, regardless, was Chloe Zhao’s “Eternals” (read our review here).

Last month, Robert Downey Jr. finally earned an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor thanks to his critically acclaimed performance in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” And while he’ll next be seen on the small screen in the HBO series “The Sympathizer,” the Oscar-winner, who seemed content to leave Marvel behind in recent years, is now potentially open to returning to the Tony Stark/Iron Man role that helped resurrect his acting career back in 2008. You’d probably never think that Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley would use promotional time on the period black comedy indie “Wicked Little Letters” to talk about Marvel, but hey, it’s a podcast conversation with lots of room for topics, so here we are. The Academy Award winner (Colman) and Academy Award nominee (Buckley) were on the Happy Sad Confused podcast to promote their aforementioned Sony Pictures Classics comedy that comes out on March 29.

With Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four” leading quartet of heroes cast, Marvel Studios is moving on to some of the adversaries and supporting characters who will appear in the film. The first of them will be Shalla-Bal, a female version of the Silver Surfer.

We’re still a little surprised director Sam Raimi decided to return to the world of Marvel Comics for “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.” Having already directed a trilogy of “Spider-Man” films and walking away from a fourth film, it had seemed that Raimi had exhausted himself with the genre. But Raimi apparently had a great time making the ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel, and he apparently is willing to do more in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Due in theaters April 12, Zoe Saldana’s next movie is the harrowing immigration drama, “The Absence of Eden,” directed by Marco Perego and starring opposite Garrett Hedlund and Adria Arjona. In the film, Hedlund plays an ICE Agent struggling with the moral dilemmas of border security, and Saldana stars as an undocumented woman fighting to escape a ruthless cartel.

While we await official announcements concerning Marvel and Sony’s fourth “Spider-Man,” the rumor mill keeps churning and delivering what could be an early head’s up to real news. The latest round of rumblings online comes via a report from The Insneider that claims the studio hopes to shoot the fourth installment in the fall, either September or October.

Following the faceplant and failure of “The Marvels” last November—Marvel’s lowest-grossing film of all time and their first big bomb—pundits were seemingly writing an early epitaph for Marvel Studios. But three Marvel cycles later, the super-well-received “What If…?” season two in December, the much-better-than-anticipated reception to the live-action “Echo” series in January, and the glowing reviews of “X-Men ’97 (currently sitting at 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes currently, read our review), things definitely appear to be on the upswing for Marvel.

Marvel Studios/Marvel Animation’s “X-Men ‘97” is out in the world now—it has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes currently (read our review)—and the face of the series, given that the showrunner was fired just days before release, has been Marvel Executive Brad Winderbaum who is the Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios. Winderbaum has done all the press for the series, has been everywhere, and, in a new Men’s Health magazine interview, has shed more light on all things animated in the Marvel universe.
