JPEGMAFIA has hit back against controversy surrounding his decision to meet up with Kanye West, arguing that “there’s nothing political about it”.The pair were pictured together in a post to JPEGMAFIA’s Instagram last week, in which Kanye West was wearing a shirt by the controversial black metal band Burzum. They appeared to cross paths after JPEGMAFIA – real name Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks – questioned in a tweet why West was acknowledging musicians “who have less to offer u than me”.After posting several since-deleted tweets in response to the controversy, the rapper shared an extensive post on his Instagram story addressing the situation.“when i said i love an artist theres nothing political about it ye is my favorite artist of all time. Ive been saying it for years,” he began [via Stereogum].

JPEGMAFIA has taken accountability for his actions in recent months, citing that “acting irresponsibly” is “not what he is about”.The rapper – real name Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks – started the year by aligning himself with the controversial rapper Kanye West. While fans still awaited the highly-anticipated first instalment in Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Vultures’ album trilogy, he posted a picture of himself and his “idol” West which received much backlash.In response, JPEGMAFIA defended his choice to team up with Ye despite his public anti-Semitic remarks, which feature on his latest album.

JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown have announced they will be going on a North American tour this summer in support of their joint album ‘Scaring The Hoes’.The run of dates is due to begin in Nashville, Tennessee on July 25. From there, the two rappers will embark on a 20-city stint throughout the US.

Danny Brown and JPEGMAFIA have been teasing their joint album for a long time now. Despite the long run-up to the project, the announcement last week felt like a pleasant bolt from the blue. The album, titled Scaring The Hoes, is out this Friday, March 24, and we have already heard "Lean Beef Patty." Today the pair have dropped the title track, leaning into the meme that inspired the title and coming through with an experimental banger that acts as a manifesto for their uncompromising sound.

Danny Brown and JPEGMAFIA have formally announced their new collaborative album, ‘Sharing The Hoes’.The two rappers revealed while hosting an NTS Radio show last year that they had made an album together, announcing the project at Smoker’s Club festival in southern California where they also performed a new, currently untitled song.The album was confirmed for a 2023 release back in January, and it has now been confirmed that the LP will drop next week (March 24).‘Sharing The Hoes’ is being previewed by first single ‘Lean Beef Patty’, which you can watch the video for below.It’s not the first time that the two artists have collaborated. In 2019, JPEG featured on ‘Negro Spiritual’, a track from Brown’s fifth studio album, ‘uknowhatimsayin¿’.

Tkay Maidza has shared a new remix of her track ‘High Beams’, enlisting JPEGMAFIA for a guest verse on it.‘High Beams’ originally featured on ‘Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 3’ – the final EP in the ‘Last Year Was Weird’ trilogy – which was released in July 2021.

Turnstile have shared an official music video for their ‘Glow On’ album cut ‘New Heart Design’, alongside the news of a North American theatre tour slated for October.The video offers newcoming fans a preview of what to expect from the tour, comprising a montage of shots filmed during their recent stints in North America and Europe. Shot entirely on 16mm film, it was co-directed by singer Brendan Yates and longtime collaborator Ian Hurdle, the latter of whom captured the concert footage. As for the song itself, the version of ‘New Heart Design’ featured in the video sports an extended ambient outro. JPEGMAFIA doesn't stop. Having spent 2020 sharing a series of singles he eventually bundled into a short project simply titled EP!, the experimental Baltimore rapper and producer is back with another collection of new music.

A chaotic year needs some chaotic music, and experimental Baltimore rapper JPEGMAFIA has been delivering throughout 2020 with a number of singles. Those songs are collected on his nine-track project EP, which includes "BALD!," the "BALD!" remix with Denzel Curry, "living single," and "ROUGH 7" featuring Tommy Genesis.

JPEGMAFIA is not allowing quarantine to slow him down. The Baltimore experimentalist has dropped new song "Living Single" today alongside an accompanying video you can see above.
