On Tuesday, the former president was indicted on four counts related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, including conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government, conspiracy to obstruct a congressional proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct a congressional proceeding and conspiracy to violate rights.

Former President Donald Trump was indicted for a third time on criminal charges related to his efforts to retain power in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election.

Former President Donald Trump on Friday filed a lawsuit against the House January 6th Committee and its members in the latest bid to avoid a subpoena by the congressional body to compel him to testify. The news comes ahead of a planned Tuesday event in which Trump is widely expected to announce he is running for president in 2024.

“The committee is in discussions with President Trump’s attorneys and he has an obligation to comply” by this Friday, January 6 Committee Vice Chair Cheney told PBS NewsHour anchor Judy Woodruff today of the Congressional group’s recent subpoena of of the former president.

UPDATED: Former White House Counsel Pat Cipollone was subpoenaed last week to testify before the Congressional committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The date listed on the subpoena for Cipollone’s deposition is July 6. In other words, tomorrow.

When we heard there was going to be a surprise extra January 6 Committee hearing on Tuesday, complete with a secret witness, we figured it would be another whiff. We mean, what have we NOT heard about Donald Trump already?? It’s not like he ever faces any consequences no matter what he does.

The top aide to Trump’s last Chief of Staff Mark Meadows provided vivid testimony on what was actually going on in the White House on that terrible day, and who knew what when.
