alum Kit Harington is returning to HBO. The 36-year-old actor has been added to the cast of the hit British finance drama,  for season 3 as Henry Muck, the CEO and founder of green tech energy company Lumi.The news of his addition comes as the series, created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, prepares for its return following two acclaimed seasons. In season 1, audiences got an inside look at the blackbox of high finance through the eyes of young new bankers trying to forge their own paths in the pressure-filled world at the London-based international bank, Pierpoint & Co. Season 2, meanwhile, continued to follow Harper (Myha'la Herrold, ), Yasmin (Marisa Abela, ) and Robert (Harry Lawtey, ) as the former graduates must step it up under a new U.S.

Since the end of “Game of Thrones” in 2019, star Kit Harington has clearly been very particular with what projects he signs on to do. It makes sense, as his time of ‘Thrones’ dominated his work schedule for years, so now he just wants to do projects that seem worth the time.

As summer begins the slow wind down over the next month, television has plenty of offerings to keep viewers glued to their screens. With an extremely strong slate so far this year, it’s been difficult to keep up with all of the buzzed-about shows and cult favorites that have left people talking long after the respective finales and August doesn’t appear to offer much of a reprieve.

If any show were capable of holding up a mirror to society and reflecting the great pandemic corporate vibe shift underway, it would be HBO’s “Industry.” The hour-long dramedy returns from a nearly two-year hiatus, attributable largely to the pandemic it so acutely depicts on-screen, as sharp and incisive as ever. As the show picks up the thread of the upstart analysts at London’s prestigious investment bank Pierpoint &.

While it’s not yet a lock, “Back To Black,” the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic, may have its lead. Variety reports that Marisa Abela, one of the stars of the HBO/BBC drama “Industry,” is the current frontrunner to play the late singer.

From creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, “Industry” gives an insider’s view of the blackbox of high finance, following a group of young bankers as they forge their identities within the pressure cooker environment and sex and drug-fueled blitz of international bank Pierpoint & Co’s London office.

Let’s face it—many of us, if not most of us, will never know what goes on behind the scenes of the high finance world (and maybe that’s a good thing). From nefarious business practices to loosened ethics, all underlined by a hellish brand of hedonism, this is a world reserved for the few.

A far cry from HBO’s other youth-centered show (that would be the visceral and brazen “Euphoria”), HBO’s newest attempt at catching the Gen-Z zeitgeist, “Industry,” hews closer to the short-lived “How to Make it in America,” both in treating the professional and sexual lives of 20-somethings as semi-interesting dramatic fodder, and in terms of quality, as the two shows are (or were, in the case of “America”) workmanlike and, ultimately, forgettable.

The Streaming Wars, they have begun. HBO Max is starting to get aggressive.

Despite some bigger names and some returning series that already have dedicated fans, November isn’t a big month for new television series. It would seem that the film side is picking up the slack, while things are slowing down (for now) in television.

We’ve seen Hollywood tell stories of the finance industry for decades. Who can forget “Wall Street,” “The Big Short,” “Boiler Room,” or “The Wolf of Wall Street,” for example? But the upcoming HBO series, “Industry,” takes a different perspective, focusing not on the richest men making the most money in devious, disgusting ways.

When it was first announced, HBO‘s “Industry” was announced as: Lena Dunham To Direct and Exec Produce HBO Banking Drama ‘Industry’ From ‘His Dark Materials’ Producer Bad Wolf. That’s slightly interesting because today’s first “Industry” trailer and HBO Max’s new press release barely mentions Dunham outside of being one of the directors on the show.

While the world only seems to be moderately better now than it was months ago when the pandemic began to wreak havoc across the globe, we are now officially in Fall Film Festival Season. And though the festival schedule is different and some events have either gone fully digital or a combination of digital and in-person, there is a sense that the industry is returning to some sort of normalcy.

Despite being just the weirdest year ever, it’s also been a super-strong, solid one for television.
