It’s been one of the worst-kept secrets in Hollywood for months, but it’s finally confirmed. After months of rumors and speculation, the cast of Marvel’s “Fantastic Four” movie has been confirmed by Marvel on Valentine’s Day (see the image below).

It looks like Marvel has found their latest leading man, and fans couldn’t be more excited about the big “Fantastic Four” news.According to Deadline, Pedro Pascal is in talks to land the role of Reed Richards in Marvle’s “Fantastic Four” film.

There’s a lot of upheaval at Marvel Studios of late. Amid an ever-rearranging theatrical release schedule and months of VFX backlash against the studio, there’s also Marvel’s emergent TV Reckoning.

While it will definitely (as Kevin Feige so eloquently puts it in the same discussion below) go down as one of the best decisions in Hollywood history, there has already been so much written about Robert Downey, Jr. being cast as Tony Stark in 2008’s “Iron Man.” However, in a new interview with Feige and filmmaker Jon Favreau, it’s revealed that RDJ could have shown up in a Marvel film years before his “Iron Man” debut.

Sometimes the tabloid mindset can push rabid fans down serious rabbit holes. One of the more recent examples of this was actress Mila Kunis having lunch with “Fantastic Four” director Matt Shakman (“WandaVision“), who is notably friends with a bunch of Hollywood industry people such as recognizable actors like Kunis.

One of the first big reboots announced by Marvel Studios after Disney acquired 21st Century Fox was “Fantastic Four,” and they would go even further by attaching director Jon Watts (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”) for the film. However, Watts had to exit when his dance card got too full with the new high-profile Disney+ series “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” and a Hollywood fixer film that stars Brad Pitt and George Clooney.

There are just certain sentences you never think you’ll ever have to write. Such as—apparently, Howard Stern is attached to an unannounced “Doctor Doom” project at Marvel.

Marvel Studios is currently looking for a new director for their “Fantastic Four” reboot after Jon Watts has exited the project to give himself a break from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Watts directed three rather large and successful “Spider-Man” films and might want to focus on smaller/more original films instead.

Many people don’t realize this, but the “Fantastic Four” comic books predate almost everything in Marvel’s history. The superhero team is basically the foundation of all modern Marvel superheroes.

Adam McKay’s most recent films, “The Big Short,” “Vice,” and “Don’t Look Up” (based on the premise) all deal with political themes in a pretty explicit way. Sure, there’s the humor and heart that McKay has instilled in almost all of his features, dating back to his raunchy, R-rated Will Ferrell comedy days, but his later films don’t shy away from having a clear political viewpoint.

You know a film is a pretty big misfire when you have the filmmaker disavowing his support for the feature on Twitter right after it debuts in theaters. That’s exactly what happened when Josh Trank told social media that “Fantastic 4,” which debuted in 2015, was not his original vision.

Dating back to the announcement that Jessica Alba was cast to play Sue Storm in the first “Fantastic Four” film from the early-‘00s to the time that Michael B. Jordan was cast as Johnny Storm in the 2015 reboot, there has always been controversy over the casting choices for the Fox franchise.
