Faf Du Plessis steps down from Proteas Captaincy

Faf du Plessis announced today that he is stepping down as captain of the Proteas’ Test and T20 teams effective immediately.  The 35-year-old cited a need to take a step back from captaincy in order to help facilitate the emergence of the next generation of leaders within the team under the new leadership of Quinton de Kock.

Cricket South Africa launched their Black Day campaign on Friday, adding their voice and commitment to the fight against femicide and violence against women in South Africa. The focus point of the campaign will be the T20 International match between the Proteas and Australia which will be played at Kingsmead in Durban on March 22 when both teams will wear black outfits in line with the overall theme.

2 min read Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was Sunday slapped with a hefty fine after calling Kane Richardson a “faggot” during the Melbourne Big Bash Cricket League derby on Saturday night. The Melbourne Stars player apologised after being found guilty of breaching Cricket Australia’s code of conduct and penalised Aus$7,500 (US$5,200).
