Over the years, we saw him jump on a moving passenger train, leap from a helicopter and swim through shark-infested waters. Why? Well “All because the lady loves Milk Tray”, of course. The ads were definitely inspired by the James Bond films, which had become smash hits at the cinema in the 1960s.

Orlando Bloom and Sean Ellis Talk About The Star’s Transformation Into A Past-His-Prime Boxer In ‘The Cut’: “He Was Willing To Have His Nose Broken” – Toronto Film Festival

Sean Ellis’s sixth feature, following the deliriously atmospheric 19th-century vampire movie Eight for Silver (2021), is yet another curveball from the criminally underrated British director. Titled The Cut, it is the story of a past-his-prime boxer who goes behind his wife Caitlin’s back to accept a lucrative comeback fight in Las Vegas. But this is not yet another Rocky-style underdog story, the kind that culminates in the ring. Instead, it is a sometimes-shocking psychological thriller, a sort of boxing procedural that details the extreme lengths that cornered fighters will go to. On paper, it sounds like Southpaw, but in reality, it has a little more in common with this year’s Cannes hit The Substance, a visceral body-horror movie about a fading starlet (Demi Moore) and her desperate drive to maintain her fame.

Kevin Hart and Taraji P. Henson Lead A Star-Studded Cast That Helps ‘Fight Night’ Punch Above Its Weight: TV Review

Alison Herman TV Critic Since the state of Georgia passed the nation’s most generous tax incentives for film and TV production, Atlanta has boomed into what’s often deemed the “Hollywood of the South.” But for all the shoots that use the city as a backdrop, there are few that actually center it as a dynamic metropolis worthy of its own mythology. (The list basically begins and ends with Donald Glover’s namesake FX series, and a handful of reality shows.) The Peacock limited series “Fight Night,” adapted by creator Shaye Ogbonna (“The Chi”) from the 2020 podcast of the same name, is a welcome break from this status quo, using a fateful evening in 1970 to explore Atlanta’s rise as a center of Black culture and prosperity — even if some of the architects of that ascent were less-than-savory characters.

The Theatrical Industry Will Recover With More Movies and More Competition (Guest Column)

Patrick Corcoran Will the industry draw the right lessons from this summer’s successes and failures? It’s a tradition at the end of the summer to opine on lessons learned about what kinds of movies worked and why, and to extrapolate from that “what audiences want.” This focus is always too narrow and tries to prove too much. It also drives a mad chase after what worked or didn’t work in this season as markers for what will or won’t work in the future.
