Celebrity Gogglebox star and Happy Mondays dancer Mark Berry – aka Bez – has said he’s ‘lucky to be alive’ after a motorbike accident in February. The 59-year-old media personality was with a group of professional riders when he lost control of the front end of his bike and ended up off the road, breaking bones, ligaments, and his foot. He was near the mountains in Magaluf – the famous party region of Spanish island Majorca – when the crash happened, and admitted he is still ‘not quite right’ four months on.

Sigur Rós bassist Georg Hólm has admitted that he considered leaving Iceland after the band was accused of tax evasion.The Icelandic government accused the band of of evading 151m króna (£840,000) of tax between 2010 and 2014. Sigur Rós have surprise released a new album, almost ten years to the day since their last long player ‘Kveikur’ came out. The new record is called ‘Átta’ and is being released in partnership with BMG, just ahead of their performance with the London Contemporary Orchestra tonight as part of the Southbank Centre’s Meltdown festival.The album features both frontman Jónsi and bassist Georg Holm along with multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson, who returned to the band last year.Once back in the studio, Jónsi says, they found themselves “just wanting to have minimal drums and for the music to be really sparse, floaty and beautiful.

Thania Garcia Bill Lee, the jazz bassist who played with Bob Dylan and Duke Ellington before composing scores for his son Spike Lee, died at his Brooklyn home on Wednesday morning. No cause of death has been confirmed. He was 94. The news was confirmed on Spike Lee’s official Instagram where he shared a series of portraits of his late father captured by David Charles Lee. He also shared The New York Times obituary and the album art for his 1989 film “Do The Right Thing” score, which Bill Lee composed. The late Lee also wrote the soundtracks for his son’s first three feature films: “She’s Gotta Have It” (1986), “School Daze” (1988), and “Mo’ Better Blues” (1990). He also scored an early Spike Lee short, “Joe’s Bed-Stuy Barbershop: We Cut Heads,” the first student film to premiere at Lincoln Center’s New Directors/New Films Festival, in 1983.

Ethan Shanfeld Dominic Fike will release his long-awaited sophomore album, “Sunburn,” on July 7 via Columbia Records. The album includes debut single “Dancing in the Courthouse,” which debuted in April ahead of the singer’s performance at Coachella, as well as “Ant Pile,” which he premiered at the festival and will officially release on Friday. “Sunburn” is currently available for pre-order and will be released on CD and vinyl with exclusive editions. The news was announced on Friday by Rourke's former bandmate Johnny Marr, who paid tribute to "a kind and beautiful soul" and confirmed Rourke passed away following a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. In his statement, Marr wrote: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andy Rourke after a lengthy illness with pancreatic cancer.

The news arrived with an early taste of the 10-song collection, a guitar-driven single titled “The Narcissist.” The album, which will be released on July 21 on Parlophone, follows their last reunion album — 2015’s “The Magic Whip” — and was produced by James Ford, who last worked with Blur’s Damon Albarn for the Gorillaz’s 2018 album “The Now Now.” “This is an aftershock record, reflection and comment on where we find ourselves now,” said Albarn of the new record in a statement.
