His two goals against Galatasaray in midweek were superbly taken and his ability to be a focal point and a willing runner in behind gives the Reds an extra dimension. The Dane will likely have his own troughs over the coming months but right now he’s the one peak in a landscape of nothing but the flat and dreary.
It speaks volumes of this United side that a player they didn’t want to burden with too much pressure is shouldering it almost single-handedly while others flounder.
“I’m sure he has great qualities,” said Ten Hag in midweek. “We’ve seen he’s always in the right spot. He’s very hungry for scoring goals, but also in other facets of the game, in stages, he’s doing really well. You see him improving from game to game.”
