Michael has shared the details in his new book Just One Thing, based on his podcast of the same name.
The health guru explains how to incorporate new daily habits in to everyday life and stick to them too. One of his favourite tips is to get out and about for a brisk walk within two hours of waking up.
Not only does doing so help you get your steps in and blood pumping, it plays a big part in regulating the appetite, which is crucial for anyone on a weight loss journey. According to the specialist, getting out into the daylight first thing in the morning could keep you from giving in to snack temptation.
Writing in Just One Thing, Michael said: "As well as waking you up, bright outdoor light helps to reset your body clock, which in turn helps to regulate hunger, mood, body temperature and all sorts of other important bodily processes."
Of course, the calorie burning in walking every day will help melt inches and doing so in the bright morning light is also important for good sleep health.
He added: "Light levels outdoors are at least 10 times brighter than inside your house, and when this light hits sensors at the back of your eyes, this sends messages to a part of your brain called the pituitary gland, ordering it to stop producing the hormone melatonin.
