Manchester Airport says it's celebrating its busiest December ever, with record numbers of passengers passing through over the festive period. December also marked the third consecutive month in a row that passenger numbers outstripped pre Covid-pandemic levels, added the airport.
A spokesman said more than two million passengers used Manchester Airport last month, making it the busiest December it has ever had and the first time the airport has served more than two million people during a December.
And the airport said figures showed more than 99 per cent of all passengers in the month queued for less than 15 minutes to get through security.

The exact number of travellers recorded was 2,022,905, a figure also likely to have been boosted by ski season numbers.
"It is the first time the airport has ever served more than two million passengers in December, with record numbers using the airport to make sure they were able to spend the festive period with loved ones, enjoy a city break or to escape the British weather for a bit of winter sun," said the spokesman.
"December was the third consecutive month that passenger numbers outstripped pre-pandemic (2019) levels.
"Over the course of the month, service levels remained high with 99.3 per cent of passengers getting to security in 15 minutes or less, and nobody waiting for more than half an hour."
The top three routes for the month were Dublin, Amsterdam and Dubai, all of which saw more than 90,000 passengers flying out to the cities. Five Finnish airports also saw bumper numbers, with more than 30,000 people heading to the Scandinavian country, many of whom will have been to see
