A flight to Manchester Airport was forced to abort its landing and divert to the East Midlands amid strong winds on Wednesday (January 24).
The Singapore Airlines flight had been due to land at Manchester after taking off from Singapore Changi Airport at around 2.30am. However, after two attempts to touch down were missed, the flight then made its way to East Midlands Airport, where it eventually landed safely.
It comes amid strong winds caused by Storm Jocelyn, sparking a yellow weather warning from the Met Office. The conditions also led to public transport services across parts of the UK being cancelled or severely delayed with a 'do not travel' warning in place.

Singapore Airlines said the flight diverted to the East Midlands due to 'high winds' in Manchester. The plane was refuelled before making its way back to Manchester, landing shortly before 12.30pm.
A spokesman for Singapore Airlines told the Mirror: "Singapore Airlines flight SQ52, operating from Singapore to Manchester Airport on 24 January, diverted to East Midlands Airport due to high winds in the area. After refuelling, flight SQ52 subsequently departed East Midlands Airport at 11:44 and arrived safely at Manchester Airport at 12:24.
"We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. However, the safety of our customers and crew is always our top priority."
