Despite being told not to go to the party, Cathy Hope decided to take Wendy's car and head off to the New Year's Eve bash with her twin brother Heath and their friend Angelica. But things took a tragic turn when the car veered off the road in a shocking collision, leaving Cathy and Angelica with nasty injuries.
Sadly, Heath didn't survive the crash. In emotional scenes, Wendy tried to save him but it was too late. A distraught Bob realised he had lost his son.
In heartbreaking moments, Bob held Heath's lifeless body as Wendy confessed there was nothing more she could do. Overcome with grief, Bob broke down as the distant sound of an ambulance could be heard. When the paramedics arrived, they rushed everyone to hospital.
While Bob kept watch outside Cathy's room, it was clear he was struggling to come to terms with the loss of his son Heath.
Tony Audenshaw, who plays Bob Hope, shared his thoughts on working with the Dowling twins, Gabrielle and Sebastian, saying: "It's been brilliant. I think it's quite extraordinary that they're real twins and they're playing real twins.
They're fabulous kids." He also spoke about the dramatic joyriding scenes, adding: "He can't believe that they've done it. It's unclear, actually, whether he knows that Cathy can drive or not.
I think he's more concerned. Obviously because of the nature of what's happened in the last few months a lot of behaviour has been tied in with Cathy's PMDD... So he's concerned, I think, more than anything." Reflecting
