Emmerdale viewers were left confused during the latest episode, 23 February, as it appeared that the ITV soap had left out an incredibly important part of the legal system after Charity Dingle (played by Emma Atkins) stabbed her husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb). It had been weeks in the making, but Charity sadly lost it when Mack surprised her during the middle of a night terror during Thursday night's episode. As a result, her PTSD condition flared up in a major way, and the pub landlord became confused and hurt her husband, thinking it was evil villain Damon Harris instead.
Thankfully, Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) turned up just in time and managed to call the police and ambulance, but in the following episode, Mack was still in intensive care in hospital. While Charity was immediately taken in for questioning, and held behind bars overnight, viewers spotted an awkward plot hole in the hours after the incident.
Just as Moira remained steadfast by Mack's bedside, it was revealed that the police had left the scene at Jacob's Fold untouched. Going home to sort things out, Noah Dingle and Sarah Dingle both came armed with cleaning products and gloves to clean everything up. As they surveyed blood stains, the spattered knife, and tissues on the floor, the teenagers seemed unhappy with what awaited them.
Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) then came round to see if he could offer any help, and joked that Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) would be hot in pursuit with the hoover. Yet as the scenes continued, fans couldn't believe that the police wouldn't have wanted to investigate the scene for themselves, and perhaps demanded that things weren't cleaned up.
