Dancing on Ice fans were clearly divided as the show paid tribute to Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean following their big news last week. During Sunday night's (February 18) live show, the pair confirmed they have “no plans” to step back from the ITV competition after announcing their retirement from skating together in 2025.
The British ice skaters announced on Wednesday (February 14), which marked the 40th anniversary of their Olympic gold success, that they would be stepping back from skating after embarking on one last UK tour next year.
Following the news, reports speculated that the duo from Nottingham would also leave their roles as judges on ITV’s Dancing On Ice after the current series. But Chris confirmed they wouldn't be leaving their chairs on Dancing on Ice's judging panel as they were surprised by the man who created their iconic outfits when the truck gold at the 1984 Winter Olympics.

At the start of the latest show, Dancing on Ice's professional dancers also paid tribute to the ice skating legends as they took to the ice with a Bolero-themed group dance with the skaters all dressed in purple. Announcing the opening number, host Holly Willoughby said: "Get ready for a very special night on Dancing on Ice."
But not all of those tuning into the ITV show were pleased with the mention of the Bolero and rushed to social media to mock the show's emphasis on the iconic routine.
