A few days after his Good Morning Britain exit, Ben Shephard has paid tribute to one of his now ex-co-stars as a new week on the show stars without him. There were emotional scenes last week as the presenter hosted the ITV news programme for the last time.
It was announced earlier this month that Ben was leaving GMB after 10 years after he'd taken the job as the new co-host of This Morning alongside Cat Deeley. The pair will replace previous main hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby following their sudden exits within months of each other last year.
On Friday (February 23), Ben sat alongside Kate Garraway at the helm of GMB for the last time. Kate, 56, said at they started the show: "It's not even a minute past six, I just realised that's the last time we're here Good Morning Britain with Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway. I'm off already, too emotional!"

Meanwhile, Ben, 49, added: "I'm desperately trying to hold this together, we've got three hours" with Kate replying: "Are you? Feeling a bit emotional?" to which Ben admitted: "Yeah, I do!"
The pair then carried on the show with various mentions of Ben's exit with some messages for Ben from his ITV colleagues and West Ham heroes playing throughout. However, Kate took over for the last half an hour of the programme which was dedicated to her friend and co-host of more than 20 years.
She was joined by Susanna Reid and Sean Fletcher, who popped in on their days off, as well as Richard Arnold, Charlotte Hawkins, Andi Peters, Dr Amir Khan and Alex Beresford who were all on hand to wish
