Good Morning Britain's Richard Arnold has revealed the date that presenter Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley will be joining This Morning. Ben bid a teary farewell to GMB on Friday, 23 February, after it was confirmed he would join the team at This Morning alongside Cat to present the morning show from Mondays to Thursdays.
The duo will be permanently replacing Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, who both left last year – and their start date is Monday, 11 March.
The pair of veteran presenters were officially announced as the new permanent hosts following months of rumours and speculation about who might replace Holly and Phillip, with the channel initially introducing a rota of faces including Josie Gibson and Alison Hammond. Richard announced the date on Ben's final GMB show, which he presented with Kate Garraway on Friday saying: "Breaking news, just in, I can reveal that Ben Shephard's debut on This Morning...
will be Monday March 11, right here on ITV!" It came after Ben admitted he was finding his final appearance emotional, sharing that he was "desperately trying to hold it together". Kate, who is good friends with Ben off-air and was supported by him during her late husband Derek Draper's Covid-illness and eventual passing earlier this year, also admitted she was full of emotion.
At the start of Friday's show, she said: "It's not even a minute past six, I just realised that's the last time we're here Good Morning Britain with Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway. I'm off already, too emotional!" Meanwhile, Ben added: "I'm desperately trying to hold this together, we've got three hours." ITV announced the decision to replace Holly and Phil with Ben and Cat on its social media earlier this month, posting a clip of Ben, 49,
