Coronation Street alumni Nicola Thorp became overwhelmed with emotion in her final TalkTV episode before going on maternity leave. The 35-year-old actress and broadcaster, who is expecting her first child with her actor fiancé Nikesh Patel, hosted her final show on the opinion channel this week ahead of her exciting new arrival.
Nicola, who starred on the Cobbles as Nicola Rubinstein from 2017 to 2019, appeared alongside her co-host Jeremy Kyle on Thursday’s episode of Talk Today and looked tearful as she bid farewell to viewers at the end of the show. TalkTV’s royal editor Sarah Hewson appeared for the closing moments of the programme to hand Nicola flowers and a baby grow with the Talk Today branding on it.
Nicola then became glassy-eyed as she praised her colleagues for their support since her pregnancy was announced. The presenter, who has hosted the show since its launch in October, said: “I do want to say a huge thank you to everybody in the team, who has been so supportive of an emotional, hungry, thirsty pregnant woman and you've been so helpful.
You've really made me feel like having a baby does not affect your career and it shouldn't affect your prospects in this industry.” Jeremy Kyle - whose wife Vicky Burton is due to give birth to his sixth child in the coming weeks - said to Nicola: "Thank you for everything over the last few weeks... I'm not very good as a man saying this, it is the most amazing thing in the goddamn world.
“It's as hard... but just live every moment because it's amazing.” Jeremy, 58, announced in September that he and Vicky, who he married in 2021, were expecting their second child together.
The couple welcomed their first child, son Oliver, in 2020 - while Jeremy already has one child
