Chesney Brown was first welcomed into Coronation Street all the way back in 2003. He was introduced when actor Sam Aston was just 10-years-old, and has remained a regular fixture on the soap ever since. The character is named after the singer, Chesney Hawkes, and was brought in as the younger brother of Fiz Brown (Jennie McAlpine) and son of Cilla Battersby-Brown (Wendi Peters).
Chesney recently tied the knot with Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) in one of Weatherfield's biggest weddings. He has been involved in a variety of storylines over the years, from being held hostage to becoming a dad of quadruplets - there’s sure to be plenty more to come from Chesney still. We look at actor Sam’s life away from the beloved character, from his famous sister to life with his wife Briony and two children.
Sam was chosen to play Chesney after training at a local drama group, Carl Godby's Theatre Workshop. He is part of a huge family off-screen as well as on-screen, growing up with three brothers and five sisters. "Because I grew up in a big family, I've always been used to the chaos.
I've got five sisters and three brothers so I'm used to a lot of people being around in the house, children and all sorts," he previously told the Manchester Evening News and other press. "But with work, it's all well-structured because when we have scenes where the quads are in, we have got the chaperone. “Karen, who is lovely, we've got the parents who come on set and they'll only bring them on when we do a take, so as crazy as it sounds, it's not as bedlam, I don't think, as it could be when you initially think [about] four babies on set." Sam is the younger brother of actress Emily Aston, who played Becky Palmer in the soap from 1996 to 1997.
