Former captain Gary Neville described Manchester United's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon as an 'abysmal result'.
United, just three days after producing a brilliant performance secure a 2-1 win over Chelsea, came crashing back down to earth with a bump, losing at home to the Cherries for the very first time. United, who will have to be at the peak of their powers when they face Bayern Munich in a do-or-die Champions League encounter on Tuesday night, were guilty of committing too many defensive errors and not being clinical enough when chances came their way. They have now lost four times the number of Premier League home games they lost in the whole of last term.

The Reds knew that a victory would have moved them level on points with neighbours Manchester City in pursuit of a Champions League berth, ahead of City facing Luton Town on Sunday afternoon. Instead, they could now end the weekend six points behind them.
United's inconsistent performances are now threatening to significantly derail their season, and Neville pulled no punches in a brief but to the point on his X account following the full-time whistle.
Taking to the social media site, which was formally known as Twitter, Neville posted a five-word update which said: "Consistently inconsistent! An abysmal result.."
