An urgent 'do not travel' warning has been issued by a train operator as potentially dangerous winds are set to batter the UK on Sunday (January 21).
'Severe disruption' to public transport is expected due to adverse weather brought by Storm Isha, with weather warnings for wind and rain issued by the Met Office.
Avanti West Coast has now urged passengers not to travel 'unless absolutely necessary', with the provider running a 'reduced timetable' and services 'expected to be busy'. Customers can instead use their tickets on Monday (January 22) and Tuesday (January 23), or get a refund.

Their update said: "Due to the severe weather forecast with Storm Isha, speed restrictions will be in place on all Avanti West Coast routes on Sunday 21 January. We’ll also be operating a reduced timetable with our services expected to be busy.
"As a result, we strongly advise customers to do not travel unless absolutely necessary on Sunday 21 January. Customers booked to travel on Sunday 21 January can use their tickets to travel on Monday 22 January or Tuesday 23 January, or alternatively get a fee-free refund through their point of purchase."
Winds of up to 80mph will swoop in on Sunday, potentially causing power cuts and loss of mobile phone signal, while roads and bridges are likely to be shut and transport services could face delays and cancellations in some areas.
The Met Office has issued a number of yellow weather warnings for wind and rain, covering most of the UK, including the north west, on Sunday. See all the warnings in place here.
