The Met Office named Storm Isha on Friday - the ninth since the start of the season in September 2023. Inland wind speeds are expected to reach 50 to 60mph but in coastal regions there could be widespread winds of up to 60 or 70mph with the possibility of even 80mph in parts.
WalesOnline reports that according to forecasts, Isha is expected to deepen over the next 24 hours, and maintain its intensity on approach to the UK. BBC Weather say they are keeping an eye on whether a red warning could be issued as the amber warning for Scotland sits in the "highest impact column". They say: "if this were to continue and 'likelihood' increase then a RED warning could follow. Either way Isha will be one of the strongest storms of 23/24 season."
