Shocking pictures have captured the devastating aftermath of a ram-raid attempted robbery at a shop in Angus.
The Mayfield Foodstore in Arbroath was targeted in the early hours of Friday morning with the entrance and part of the roofline completely destroyed.
Police have confirmed a second nearby store was also hit by the stolen lorry as well as at least one parked car.
The vehicle was stolen from the Ulearn LGV training centre on the town's Dens Road. Owner David Hall told the Record that it has since been recovered but will have to be written off due to the damage.
He said: "I just hope someone comes forward with some information because the lorry is a write-off. The front, the passenger side and the rear have all been damaged.

"Whoever it was can’t actually drive though because they’ve damaged the walls coming out of our yard. They’ve driven into the wall as they tried to come out which has damaged the whole left-hand side of the lorry.
"They’ve then obviously tried to get into the shops by going forwards and backwards. We’re going to have to repair the wall and cancel three training courses that we had booked for that lorry in the next couple of weeks. So that’s nearly £5000 worth of work.
"The lorry costs within the region of £7000 to £8000 and it’s a very specific vehicle as well.
“It’s an ex-MOD training vehicle with dual controls. There were only so many made so it’s going to basically be impossible to replace."
Police Scotland have confirmed that enquiries to trace suspects are ongoing.
A force spokesperson said: "Around 5.50am on Friday, 22 March, 2024, we received a report of an attempted break-in to two
