Emmerdale fans blast 'unrealistic' cancer storyline as Chas waits for biopsy results

Emmerdale fans have blasted the latest episode which saw Chas Dingle visit the hospital and be told she needs a mammogram, an X-ray and a biopsy to determine if she has breast cancer. In emotional scenes, Chas, played by Lucy Pargeter, attended the hospital shortly after she discovered a lump on her breast, but fans have pointed out how she got the appointment so quickly.
Fans quickly took to X, formally known as Twitter, to express their thoughts on the storyline. One fan penned: "1 day referral that normally takes two weeks to get an appointment # Emmerdale ", while another added: "#Emmerdale Chas getting to see a Consultant very quickly.I wish it was always like that." A third quipped: "An appt within 24 hours for Charity.
Even by Emmerdale standards that’s quick #Emmerdale", while a fourth said: "Who thinks it’s fair Chas got an appointment so soon when people nowadays have got to wait months for appointments #Emmerdale". Spoilers for the show reveal that Chas is going to learn she has triple negative cancer and, while she does her best to be brave, she struggles to take in the news. Producer Kate Brooks reflected on the plans to embark on another breast cancer storyline on the soap, especially after the emotional heartache the Dingles suffered with Faith's death in 2022.
