Coronation Street has teased that Leanne Battersby could get swept up in the thoughts and ideas of a newcomer amid planning her wedding to Nick Tilsley. The pair have had an on-and-off romance over the years. Leanne and Nick first married in January 1998.
But with it recently being a leap year, Leanne decided to drop to one knee and asked Nick to marry her in a busy Bistro to which he accepted. However, he admitted to brother David Platt that he thought about saying no.
The proposal came after Nick had picked out an engagement ring to pop the question to Leanne once more but changed his mind when his partner kept details about her son Simon Barlow's car crash with his son Sam Blakeman in the car.

In upcoming scenes, Leanne tells Debbie Webster that she’s taking Simon to the The Institute seminar at the Chariot Square Hotel. Debbie suggests she takes Nick along too so they can check out the wedding fayre.
Under pressure, Nick reluctantly agrees to accompany Leanne to the wedding fayre. But according to Ben Price, who plays Nick, it's the last thing he wants. "He’s not too happy about it," the actor told the Manchester Evening News and other press. "One, it’s going to cost a fortune and two, he’s like 'could we just slow this down a bit and it not be too soon or too quick? It’s going to cost me a lot of money and I’m still not sure where I am.'"
He added: "So I’ll be honest. I think he’s like, 'Okay, I’ll go.' But I think he’s hoping he can kind of weasel his way out a bit. Like, 'Let’s have a think... Let’s give it six months.'"
