Coronation Street fans think they know how Bethany Platt's return to Weatherfield will play out as Lucy Fallon confirmed she was back filming. The actress' on-screen mum Tina O'Brien actually admitted to leaking the news of Lucy's return over the summer.
But rumours had actually started to swirl early in August about Lucy reprising the role of Bethany, after starring in the ITV soap as the character from 2015 to 2020. They said at the time that the Blackpool-born star, 27, was said to heading back to the ITV studios to film brand new scenes but that it was expected that Lucy’s new scenes won’t air until Christmas or the new year.
Shortly after the reports emerged, it seemed on-screen mum Tina O'Brien confirmed her return was true. The Sarah Barlow actress was celebrating her 40th birthday at the time when she shared a picture of herself on set in the Platts' home with Helen Worth, Sue Nicholls, Jack P Shepherd, Ben Price and Julia Goulding who all play members of her on-screen family.

They posed on the sofa behind a birthday cake for Tina. "Yesterday treated to a gorgeous surprise celebration by my wonderful Platt fam," she typed alongside the sweet snap. But she then added: "We'll get a full one soon @paddybever and @lucyfallonx," referring to Lucy and Max Turner actor Paddy Bever.
