Coronation Street's Peter Barlow exit scenes teased in new pictures with Christmas departure from Weatherfield

New picture appears to show how Peter Barlow will leave Weatherfield this Christmas. It comes after Chris Gascoyne confirmed he'd be leaving Coronation Street after an on-off appearance over 23 years.
Chris briefly revealed in July that he will be leaving the role after becoming the seventh actor to play Ken Barlow's son in 2000. But a Coronation Street spokesperson said at the time that the door is 'left open' - meaning the 55-year-old could return in the future.
And the new pictures appear to prove just that. The ITV soap is currently in the process of filming the sad farewell scenes, which ware expected to air on Boxing Day this year and it appears Peter is set to leave on a tram.

Chris has been seen filming aboard Manchester's Metrolink with the tram he was travelling on set for Picadilly - which means we're likely to hear Peter has set off for pastures new away from the city.
The new pictures come after Corrie fans were left in a state of dismay earlier this month as it was revealed that Peter was the reason for Stephen Reid's shocking permanent exit. Viewers had been speculating as to how the serial killer would leave after his crimes finally caught up with him.
They saw a desperate Stephen cornered in the Rovers Return by partner Jenny Connor and Sarah Barlow, with him bashing his niece over the head with a bottle. A final showdown with Jenny then led to him holding her hostage during his bid to escape before being mown down in a car by Peter, moments after he’d set Jenny free.
