As Wednesday’s episode came to an end, 19 July, the presenters bid farewell to viewers and explained how the popular ITV daytime programme would not be returning until Friday.They went on to confirm that Thursday’s episode had been cancelled because the FIFA Women’s World Cup football tournament was being shown on ITV1 instead.
As well as This Morning being affected, Loose Women will also be off air on Thursday. Good Morning Britain and Lorraine will go ahead as normal - but there will be changes for the ITV daytime schedule in future as the football coverage, shared with the BBC, is broadcast.
As Wednesday’s This Morning concluded, Alison said: "We're back with you on Friday because tomorrow's the women's football World Cup on ITV1. We'll see you then with a special performance from the cast of 42nd Street.

Dermot added: "And Britain's Got Talent winner Viggo Venn will be live in the studio.That's on Friday at 10am, see you then.” Earlier this month, Alison and Dermot were forced to make an apology after one of their guests swore live on air. Viewers of the show, however, loved the slip up.
