Why is This Morning not on today and when will it be back?

As Holly Willoughby prepares to return to our screens next month after an extended Summer break, fans at home have been excitedly awaiting the news about which co-host would be joining her on the This Morning sofa. It has now been revealed that during Holly’s return to the show on Monday September 4, she will be joined by close pal Alison Hammond, who has been holding down the fort with Josie Gibson and Dermot O’Leary while Holly enjoyed her time off.

Alison Hammond was left 'devastated' after her This Morning co-host Dermot O'Leary snubbed a personal present she had bought for him. During Friday's show, which saw the pair co-host while Holly Willoughby is away on holiday, Alison revealed that she had bought Dermot a build a bear which contained a bit of a twist. It was revealed that the bear had Alison's laugh loaded onto it so that it would make that noise if squeezed, but the gift did not go down quite so well.

This Morning will be off air on Tuesday, 8 August as ITV1 shakes up its schedule to make room for the Women’s FIFA Football World Cup.The flagship mid-morning programme, which has been a staple on screens since 1988, will be replaced by coverage of the tournament, which is taking place in Australia and New Zealand.The final two rounds of 16 matches will be played tomorrow ahead of the quarter finals, which begin on 11 August. Colombia and Jamaica are set to go head to head at 9am BST on 8 August, with the winning team set to face the Lionesses in the Quarter Finals.
