Two cancelled flights and a 30-hour delay - couple's TUI holiday nightmare

A couple's plans to jet off before the school holidays began had their dreams scuppered after two cancelled flights meant they lost almost a third of their holiday.
Wendy and Mark Wilson, from Thorngumbald in East Yorkshire, were looking forward to a much-needed week-long break in Corfu. They had their bags packed for a flight from Leeds Bradford Airport to the Greek island at 3.05pm on Friday, July 14.
They boarded the plane at 2.40pm, only to be asked to disembark an hour later, because of a technical fault. However, as Hull Live reports, this was only the beginning of the pair's nightmare.

They were due to go to Manchester that evening to catch a flight, but were later told that too had been cancelled. Eventually they were put up in a Leeds hotel at 10pm. Many on the flight had a cruise to meet but it had left port so they just had to go home.
Wendy, 54, said: “At one point, the police came to where we were at the airport because people were getting so cross although nothing actually happened. There were no reps and all the information was coming by email. Some of the more elderly passengers didn’t have access to emails and there were issues with connectivity.
“TUI were useless. At no point while we were waiting in the airport did anyone supply us with water or food vouchers. Elderly people were forced to stand or sit on the floor for more than three hours.
“It was the lack of communication that has been the worst part of all this. There should have been three or four reps looking after people. We should have been able to speak to someone face to face.”
