This Morning's new host Cat Deeley was forced to apologise for a huge blunder during her hosting debut alongside Ben Shephard on Monday, 11 March. The 47 year old presenter made her debut as the new permanent host of the show with Ben, 49, after previous hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby stepped down last year.
However, Cat suffered an unfortunate mishap as she read out the number for the phone-in, as she missed out a zero, reading out '0800' rather than '08000'. She was quickly corrected by Ben, as she apologised for her blunder, and said she must have had the number for ChildLine in her head, as she said: "That's where I'm getting it from." As the show opened, the pair were happily chatting before turning to camera where Cat said: "We are so excited to be here." And Ben added he was feeling "giddy" as the show began.
The pair received a message from Ant McPartlin who gave Ben some advice on working with Cat.
He said: “We worked with Cat and she might be all sweetness and light but that girl can party.” When the news of their new jobs broke, Ben, who had been hosting ITV’s Good Morning Britain alongside Kate Garraway said: “This really feels like a very special moment for Cat and I to be part of the next chapter of This Morning. “It’s an honour to be trusted with the reins, join Alison [Hammond] and Dermot [O’Leary] and all the team that work on and off screen and do such a great job.” Ben was previously one of the presenters of Good Morning Britain, and it was an emotional affair as he did his final show on Friday, 23 February.
