Stockport is set to light up with with colour, celebration and advocacy as the town’s answer to Manchester Pride hits the streets this weekend.
Stockport Pride 2023 will take place in the town centre from 12-6pm on Sunday, celebrating the local LGBTQ+ community in a “dazzling display of love and acceptance”. The event is free to attend and no tickets are necessary.
As well as the main parade, the event will feature a full schedule of on-stage performers. The organisers have this year gone all-out this year, with a range of festivities for all creeds and ages that include a silent disco, drag story time and a mobile cocktail van.

The Stockport Pride team have focussed on creating a family-friendly and inclusive celebration. Lead organiser Stephen Bowyer said: “This event is not only a celebration of love and acceptance but also an opportunity to stand united against prejudice.
“Stockport Pride brings people from all walks of life together to embrace diversity and create a more inclusive community.”
The centrepiece of Stockport Pride this year will be the town’s very own parade, which sets off at noon from the Underbanks in the town centre. The route will pass through Merseyway, in a circuit that doubles back along Bridgefield Street and ends in the Market Place, where the rest of the event is taking place.
Anyone is welcome to join the march, though the organisers recommend getting there before 12pm, as set-off will be prompt. The route is accessible for walkers, wheelchair users and mobility scooters.
