A furious Scots mum has spoken out after a nurse left an accidental voicemail slating the family home and calling her "a nightmare".
Health chiefs have ordered a probe after bungling staff members were heard gossiping about Kirsty and Gary Fitzwater in the audio recording on Monday, September 11.
After failing to hang up the phone, the community nurses were heard making upsetting remarks about the family’s property being "not the cleanest" and branding pet dogs as "horrible".
The couple, from Glenrothes, Fife, say their trust has now been broken after allowing the team into their property to help them care for their ill toddler Sophie, two.
The youngster has a number of complex health conditions including chronic kidney disease, a heart defect and is fed via a gastric tube. Mum-of-two Kirsty, 27, told the Record: “When I heard what they were saying, I was absolutely shocked.
“We honestly thought we had a really good relationship with these nurses so we’ve no idea why they would be this cruel. And it made us wonder about what else they might have been talking about when they thought no one was listening.
“These are people who are being paid to help and support our family with our daughter, who has a number of serious health conditions. We trusted and welcomed them into our home for them to then sit there and slate us and our house.
“It’s certainly not the kind of behaviour you expect from anyone in the nursing profession. It’s made me really quite upset and angry.”
At the start of the voicemail, one staff member can be heard arranging an appointment with someone else on the phone. The nurse is then heard saying: “She never answers the phone, Sophie Fitzwater’s mum eh”
