Ramsdale, who was earning his fourth cap for England, said criticism of Maguire was misplaced and was only being critiqued due to his status under Erik ten Hag. He described the £80m defender as mentally strong and listed his qualities post-match.
“I can sympathise with him in a way,” he told Sky Sports. “I’ve been at the other end of the Premier League - fighting to stay up, being relegated twice - when you’re in a period where crowds, pundits or fans are [putting you] under the microscope, every little thing is analysed and detailed.
