A drug dealer has been jailed for 18 months for selling cocaine to his own aunt.
Jamie Williamson offered diazepam to another relative over Facebook and asked her to pass his number around.
The 31-year-old later sold cocaine and diazepam to his aunt Cheryl Reid who stayed at his Edinburgh home to do drugs over a number of days.
Sheriff Ian Anderson said he was taking William’s extensive criminal record into account as he sentenced him to prison.
Williamson appeared at the city’s sheriff court on Tuesday via video link from Low Moss Prison, near Glasgow, and pled guilty to supplying both cocaine and diazepam.
Fiscal depute Jennifer McLaren said Cheryl was Williamson’s aunt and she had since passed away.
Ms McLaren said Williamson used Facebook Messenger to offer diazepam to a female relative then asked her to “pass around his number to people she knew”.
Later Cheryl and the relative went on a night-out and contacted Williamson to look for drugs afterwards.
Both women attended his flat and were sold cocaine and diazepam before consuming drugs with Williamson.
The other relative left but Cheryl remained at the address in the city’s Muirhouse area for “some days”, the prosecutor said.
Cheryl was later traced at the home and taken back to the address of Williamson’s uncle.
Defence agent Richard Souter said Williamson’s “life has been blighted by the scourge of drugs”.
Mr Souter said his client sold drugs at times to fund his own habit.
Williamson admitted peddling cocaine between February 28 and March 3 2020.
He also pled guilty to dealing diazepam on dates in 2018 and 2020, and between March 31 2020 and June 2 2021.
